"Every beat of my heart says I love you… I love you… I love you…”
“Did the last beat of your heart said I love you ?”

The Beginning

Aaron covered Ally’s eyes with both his palms as he led her into the apartment. Ally gripped Aaron’s sleeve as he directed her into the apartment that he had for his own bachelor pad. He moved out of his parent’s mansion since he got into college. He did not want his parent’s to treat him like a little boy, watching over him. He just wanted to be independent for once.

“What are you up to ?” Ally questioned as she giggled, walking carefully hoping that she would not clumsily trip on anything that Aaron would absent-mindedly leave on the marble flooring.

“Just walk and you will see,” Aaron said as he smiled expectantly. He had prepared this surprise for Ally the entire afternoon. He can’t wait to see the look on Ally’s face when she sees what he had prepared. Aaron came to a halt and slowly removed his hands from Ally’s eyes. There were a few seconds of silence. The table was nicely decorated with red petals and pink candles. A cake lay in the middle with white frosting beautifully decorated on the surface of it. ‘Happy Birthday Ally’ was written in cursive letters in the middle of the cake. “ I made it myself,” Aaron declared as he scratched his hair bashfully.

“It’s the most beautiful and tasty cake that I have seen,” Ally said sincerely as she held Aaron’s hand that was hanging by the side.

“How will you know if it’s even tasty ?” Aaron said jokingly as he intertwined his hand with hers.

“As long as it’s made by you, it’s the tastiest cake I have ever eaten,” Ally said as tears were threatening to fall anytime. Aaron took a knife and cut the cake and put it on a plate as the both of them lay on the couch. Ally place her head on Aaron’s lap she feeds Aaron’s with a fork on her right hand. Aaron chuckled at the sight of his girlfriend attempting to feed him like a child who refuses to eat. As Ally pushed the fork covered with the cake into Aaron’s mouth, some cake dirtied Aaron’s lips as Ally laughed at the sight of the cake all over Aaron’s mouth. Ally smiled as she pushed Aaron’s head towards her head and placed a kiss on his lips. As Ally pulled apart, her lips were filled with white color cream. The both of them stared at each other then broke into laughter.

Part 1
The sun, an orange-yellow egg yolk, shone brightly from the peak of the mountain. The chirping of the birds could be heard loudly as if they were complaining how the day went.

"Aaron ! Faster !" a brunette girl shouted as she breathlessly waited for her boyfriend to make his way to the top of the stairs. She was wearing a light blue sweatshirt with a matching sweat pants. Her hair was tied up into a neat ponytail and an orange colored haversack was slung on her back. Her sports shoes were stained with mud after hiking for almost the entire afternoon. Beads of perspiration trickled down from her forehead on to her cheeks, flushed in a healthy pink blush and into the creases of her contagious smile. However, an aura of regalness roamed around her.

" Why are you so fast ?" Aaron panted as he rested his sweaty palms on his knees covered with his black track pants. His white colored shirt was drenched in sweat and his light brown hair was dripping with the salty water that was caused by his exhaustion and heat coming from the sun. His bag slipped down from his shoulder as he slung his bag up.

"Come on ! We are reaching !" Ally shouted as she turned her back to him and started heading up the long flight of stairs. Aaron panted heavily as he clutched his right chest. He felt a sharp painful feeling. He took deep slow breath in as he tried to keep his eyes open from the pain that made him felt as if his world was spinning around. Aaron took one last deep breathe before taking huge large steps up the long stairs that seemed never ending before catching up with Ally. As he stepped onto the peak of the mountain, Aaron experienced a heart-warming feeling as he saw the bright sun setting down. The scenery was picturesque as if it was painted out. "Beautiful isn't it ?" Ally asked as she let out a deep sigh and starred at the beauty of the sun. She threw her bag down onto the grassy ground and open her arms widely as the cool wind hit her. Aaron chuckled at the sight of his girlfriend's childishness. He followed along and threw his bag right beside her's and admired the beauty that the nature was providing. The both of them sat down on the grass in silence

"Aaron," Ally broke the silence as Aaron glanced towards her. The sun had settle down leaving the sky in a dark sky blue color. Ally had some strands of hair going out of place from her neat ponytail. The energy in her seems to never run out and she was always full of life. That was what make Aaron love her so much. "Promise me you will spend every Valentines Day with me on this mountain ?" Ally said suddenly with a serious tone. She looked at Aaron with deep eyes as if she was worrying he would say no. Aaron just felt an urge to hug her and tell her he will never leave her unless he leave one day.

"I promise," Aaron whispered as a smile naturally curved onto Ally's lips. He can see the happiness and contentedness replacing the fear in her eyes. The delight in her smile just made him laugh. She looked just like a little girl that was just sastified with something that she had been begging for a long time.

"Pinky promise ?" Ally suddenly raised her last finger like a young girl. Aaron chuckled at her as he took his little finger and hooked onto her's. Ally smiled with satisfaction.

"I will love you forever Ally. I will love you until the day I die," Aaron said seriously as he suddenly pulled Ally into his arms. Ally just froze at his seriousness and slowly wrapped her arms around him. She looked up in his eyes with tears threatening to come out. Aaron immediately realized what he had said as he tried to replace it with a sentence. "Which will never come," he said with a smile as he buried his nose in Ally's hair. This part of memory will remained in his heart forever and will never be forgotten.

Part 3
Aaron ran on the tracks under the scorching hot sun. Beads of perspiration trickled down his dark brown hair onto his neck. However, Aaron continue running with all his might. The competition is in three days. There was not time to lose. Every minute of practice was important. Aaron felt his heart beating heavily. He glanced towards Ally standing by the benches watching him. Aaron’s chest was suddenly struck with a sharp stinging pain. He clutched his left chest tightly. He slower his pace before he suddenly tumbled onto the hot, burning ground. Ally left the bench quickly and rushed to Aaron’s side to help him up.

“Are you okay ?” Ally asked as she helped him up, supporting him with her shoulders.

“I am okay,” Aaron tried forcing the words out of his mouth as he tries to slowly make his way back to the bench. Before he knew it, Aaron felt the world blackout around him as he collapsed onto the ground. With Ally’s voice shouting his name in the background.

Aaron woke up to find himself in a white hospital room with a man in a white lab coat standing beside him. Ally stand outside the room looking into the window as she saw the doctor conveying a message to Aaron. Aaron’s face turned into a shade of ghastly pale white color before the doctor walked out of the room. Ally immediately rushed into the room and walked towards Aaron. She sat on the bed and just stared at Aaron.

“What did the doctor say ?” Ally asked as tears begin to stream down Aaron’s cheeks. He suddenly look up to look into Ally’s eyes and gave her a bone crashing hug which left her speechless. Ally could only watch Aaron cry out loud with out doing anything.

Part 4
Aaron sat by the swing in the park with Ally on the other. The two gaze to the huge bright glistening moon in the dark night sky. Nothing can be heard except for the light breeze that carries the fresh smell of the trees. Ally's long hair blew to the direction the wind was going to. Aaron then silently stood up from the swing and walked towards the side of Ally as he place his hands out gesturing to her.

“Would you care for a dance ?” Aaron asked as he gave a playful smile.

“Without music ?” Ally asked as she chuckled.

“The breeze can be out music,” Aaron answered proudly as he felt the warmth of Ally’s hands in his. Ally felt his hands tighten around her waist as she rested her forehead on his. Aaron slowly leans in as their faces were less than an inch apart from each other. Ally could feel his hot fresh minty breath near her lips she tingled at the feeling of it. Aaron slowly pressed his lips onto hers. They were lost in their world until they broke apart only a few minutes later.

“Every beat of my heart says I love you… I love you… I love you,” Aaron whispered as he place a kiss on her forehead. The both of them just stood in their places just staring at each other and talking at each other with much laughter.

Aaron held on to Ally’s hand tightly as the both of them strolled down the empty street. Both did not want to leave the park. They wanted to just spend more time with each other. They were just enjoying each other’s company in silence. There was no need for words to acknowledge each other’s presence. A sudden yelp of pain escaped Ally’s lips as she broke the utter silence.

“What’s wrong ?” Aaron asked concerned as Ally grabbed his shoulders for support as she took of the heels that she was wearing. The heels broke and it wasn’t even suitable for wearing anymore.

“Great. At this moment of time,” Ally mumbled under her breath as she pouted. Aaron chuckled as he bends down.

“ I will carry you,” Aaron offered as Ally looked at him bewilderment. She then shook her head roughly without saying anything. “Why ?” Aaron asked.

“Your heart… I…” Ally stuttered. She can’t even make what she wanted to say right.

“I will be fine,” Aaron assured as he stared at her with eyes filled with assurance and persuasion. Ally gave in as she climb onto his back

“You know… I am ready to carry you until the day I die,” Aaron joked trying to lighten the tension between them.

“You won’t die. Just not yet,” Ally said in a tone that sounds as if she was trying to persuade herself instead of Aaron. She buried her nose in Aaron’s neck as she took in the floral scent. Her eyes became blurry as tears welled up in her tear duct. She shut her eyes as tears fell onto Aaron’s neck. Aaron turned his face towards Ally’s direction as his own tears were about to give way.

“I will hold on to you until the day when I can’t breathe again or never hug you again. I know you will cry, you will be sad but promise me that you will allow someone else to carry you again. I won’t blame you for it. I have only myself to blame,” Aaron whispered as tears had already fall freely down his cheeks as he walked slowly holding Ally even tighter.

Final Memories

Aaron walked into his apartment. Ally said that she have a special present for him waiting in his apartment. As he entered his apartment, he walked straight to the living room only to find a post-stick stuck on the dinning table. ‘Come to the rooftop to look for me’. Aaron smiled as he place the note on the table and quickly rushed to the corridor of his apartment. He pressed on the button of the lift impatiently. He just felt that he need to get there fast. With each step he took, he could feel his chest getting tighter and tighter. Perspiration drip down his neck as he battled with all his might. He suddenly collapsed on the stairs, hitting his body on the hard ground. He tried crawling up the stairs as he was knocked into darkness completely.

Ally ran into the emergency ward as the doctors and nurses pushed Aaron into the operating theatre. Ally slumped outside the operating theatre as squatted down with her head down and hands clasped together. All she could think of is to pray to God. She tries to keep her emotions calm as her heart began to fill with impatience. She was fiddling with her cell phone in anxiety. She suddenly dropped her phone as a photo of Aaron and her flashed onto the screen. She clutched on to the sleeve of her gray colored jacke and suddenly burst into tears.

All the doctors were present trying their best to save Aaron, they injected him with different kind of medicine, just trying to get his heartbeat back to it's regular beat.

“Get difib,” a doctor ordered as a nurse pushed a complicated machine into the room. “1, 2, 3, clear,” the doctor shouted as he pressed the metal piece onto Aaron’s chest however his heartbeat was still flat. “Again ! 1, 2, 3, clear,” the doctor ordered as he repeated his actions but Aaron’s heartbeat was still flat as the nurses and doctors shook their head. “Pronounced dead,” the doctor announced as the covered Aaron cold, lifeless body with a plain white blanket.

Outside Ally covered her face with her hands. She suddenly felt her heart gave up on the little hope that she had. She whispered under her breath, “Did the last beat of your heart say I love you ?”

I am very afraid
Very very afraid
What if whatever I wished for, dream for did not come true in the end ?
At first, I asked "God, is this just a dream" only to realized its not
I only can learn to stand up all over again.

I can feel my heart beating really fast.
As I felt my heart wrenching, I am feeling confuse.
Why are these salty water trickling down my cheeks ?
I don't understand... Never understand why
This feeling feels very familiar yet distance
But Not Yet...
